The Stony Brook Athletic Bands Band Camp Schedule 2015

The Stony Brook Athletic Bands program consists of The Spirit of Stony Brook Marching Band & Pep Band, with color guard, drumline, and featured baton twirlers included. Marching Band is a 1-credit course during the fall semester and Pep Band is a 1-credit course during the spring semester. Both courses meet on Mondays at 7-9 p.m. and Fridays at 4-6 p.m. In order to become an official member, one must register for MUS 268 on SOLAR.

Fall Semester: In order to prepare for the marching season, all members must attend Band Camp. The Marching Band performs a pregame show and halftime show at every home football game in Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. It also parades through the parking lot tailgates before each game and plays tunes in the stands during the game. Depending on the team’s schedule, the band might travel to 1-2 away games.

Spring Semester: The Pep Band plays in the stands at all of the men’s and women’s home basketball games in the Island Federal Credit Union Arena. Auditions are held at the beginning of the spring semester to determine who will be a part of the select group who will travel to support both teams in the America East Conference Tournament in March. The Color Guard and Drumline also perform a combined Showcase for the campus community on the Staller Terrace at the end of April.

The Athletic Bands program is comprised of students who want to make the most of their college experience. Our students are motivated to succeed in the classroom and they strive to make an impact on student life. They are successful because they learn to budget their time wisely and establish networks of support that assist them with academics and all facets of college life.
